“I’m BORED!” Faerie Loralie
wailed. “I wanna play!”
“Quit your squabbling!” the Amazon
growled in reply. “We’re not here to play. If you want that, why don’t you go and disappear into your own
world?” The faerie princess stuck her tongue out in reply.
“You know, Amazon, there’s probably
a way to wreak chaos and have a bit of fun,” murmured the Demon Loralie.
“I don’t care about chaos. What we
need to do is establish our place here!” she roared.
“You need to look at the big picture. First
we throw Lorilei, Hollie, and their little friends into disarray, and then we can catch them off guard while their defenses
are weak,” the demon explained smoothly. “And in the interest of fairness, we can have a little fun for the young
one while we’re at it.”
Faerie Loralie whooped and cheered. The Sorceress
Loralie looked up with caution in her serious eyes. “What exactly did you have in mind, Demon?”
“We’ll start with something basic,”
the demon said, pleased that she was getting her way. “How about simply switching bodies around?”
“What’s the point in doing that?!”
the Amazon burst out.
“They’ll be unable to fight, not
knowing what their strengths are,” the sorceress explained, a slight gleam in her eye. “Not a bad idea, Demon.”
“Why thank you Sorceress,” Demon
Loralie said, amused.
“I still think it’s a waste of time,”
Amazon Loralie muttered.
“I think it’ll be fun!” said
the faerie, squealing in delight.
“You’re outnumbered Amazon,”
the demon commented. “My plan will move forward.”
“Wait Demon,” the sorceress interrupted.
“I say we should put this theory to the test first. How about one switch to begin with? If we can eliminate the two,
then we can keep doing it.”
“I can live with that,” the Amazon
said thoughtfully.
“All right then,” said the demon,
slightly irked. “But which two?”
“I say Hollie and Lorilei’s right
hand, Ruby,” the Amazon suggested. “Both of their strengths are opposing of each others. If we manage to destroy
them, then the job is half finished, and Lorilei will be distraught and out of luck.”
“I agree. That is for the best,”
the sorceress said quietly.
“Then it’s settled. Sorceress, Faerie,
work your magic! Switch Ruby and Hollie!” the demon said lustfully, excitement evident in her eyes.
“With pleasure,” said the sorceress,
while the faerie merely laughed in delight.
Faerie Loralie flew to the center of the cavern.
In a high whispery voice, she chanted:
Sacred stars shining so bright
Grant me the magic you share with the night
Ruby with her strength, and Hollie with her mind
Exchange the two please, if you would be so kind!
The four felt the magic work, and a wave of power
swept through the dark cave. The faerie giggled.
Sorceress Loralie then took the faeries’
place in the center. In a loud, clear, commanding voice, she declared:
A switch has been made and so it shall stay!
Unless they can follow the each others’
way!
Solemnly, she said, “The spell has been
sealed. Unless they can utilize the others’ skills, they will be stuck in the others’ body.
“Perfect,” Demon Loralie whispered, a feral grin on her face.
